Let's Play!

Introducing Robyn Anderson, RSP Play Pillar Lead

At RSP, we believe PLAY is about far more than crafts, costumes, or being “creative” in the traditional sense—it’s about giving yourself permission to try something new, do something a little frivolous, revisit what once made you smile, or finally attempt the thing you’ve been too nervous to try. It’s about stepping outside your routine, getting a little messy, being a little daring, and remembering that happy and reinvigoration matter just as much as productivity.

That’s why we couldn’t imagine a better leader for this pillar than Robyn, someone who embodies the spirit of doing it for the plot, saying yes before she’s fully ready, and embracing the magic in trying something simply because it sounds fun. In her introductory blog, Robyn shares why PLAY is about practice—not perfection—and why this year she’s inviting all of us to stop judging, stop self-selecting out, and start saying yes to the things that spark curiosity, fear, delight, and possibility.

Read on to meet your new PLAY Pillar Lead and hear directly from Robyn about the messy joy ahead.

Hello RSPers. I’m Robyn and I’ll be your guide through the PLAY pillar this year. This role is perfect for me because I’m all about bringing creative ideas to life.

The play pillar is about trying something new and getting messy. It’s about having fun and bringing the element of joy into your life. Play is for practice, not perfection.

Have you ever spent an hour scrolling through social media watching other people complete DIY craft projects? Or have you seen someone out on a new adventure? Or have you scouted for a costume for a theme party?

Maybe you thought you didn’t have the right tools for the craft project, or the right equipment for that adventure, or the nerve to wear that costume.

I’ve felt the same way.

And yet! And yet, I tried the craft project. I went on the adventure. And I wore the costume. Because sometimes you have to play. Jump in with both feet and play.

Do it for the spectacle.

Do it for the plot.

Here’s an example…. I was scrolling through instagram and saw someone who had hosted a book swap. I like to read. I have books. The decorations are so cute! And so I thought, “host a book swap” was a necessary square on my 2026 Bingo Card. And I made it happen. I had about 20 friends show up to swap books at my house on a Sunday afternoon this past March. Of course I set up theme decor and bought wooden bookmarks for favors. I did it because I wanted to. I played around and had fun with it.

No regrets.

This year, I’m taking you with me. Let’s find a project, pick an activity, let’s make a costume.

Let’s play around. And let’s do it together. It’s messy and that’s part of the joy.
